Watch The Full Avengers: Endgame Scene That Reveals Plan To Take On Thanos

Last week, during the CinemaCon expo in Las Vegas, there was a scene shown to those in attendance that laid out the plan that Earth’s mightiest heroes have hatched to take on Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. It’s footage that would probably drive the fans wild, provided they ever got to see it before release. Well, prepare for pure Marvel Cinematic Universe madness, as you watch that very clip below.

So the big plan to take down the Mad Titan himself is to, obviously, steal the Infinity Stones he holds near and dear and use them to reverse the course of events that took place in Avengers: Infinity War. It’s solid reasoning, if not a decision that requires a lot of chutzpah and some super-powered miracles. Luckily, the addition of Bree Larson’s Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel herself, certainly helps level out the playing field for the entire team. Though, there are still some in the room that have their doubts.

One such party that isn’t doubting this particularly bold plan of action is none other than Steve Rogers. As the de facto leader of The Avengers, this crisis has weighed heavily on his own conscious, as well as that of his fellow teammates. So if there’s even the slightest shot of redemption that’ll restore Bucky Barnes and everyone else lost in the snap, you can be damned sure he’s going to take it.

With that strategy in mind for Avengers: Endgame, you can see just how exciting this latest entry in the MCU is about to become. But there’s something interesting to unpack while watching the footage a second, or even third time; and it has to do with something Black Widow says right at the beginning of the clip: "He used the stones again."

Seeing Thanos use the Infinity Stones throughout Avengers: Infinity War was not only a precursor to the biggest event in comic movie history, it was also a chilling display of power. The villain to end all villains in this particular cinematic universe was seen wielding ultimate power, and it usually didn’t end to well for our heroes when they were at the receiving end of said power. So why would Thanos use the stones again in Avengers: Endgame?

Widow could simply be referring to Thanos' terraforming, but there’s the possibility that, as we previously theorized, The Avengers won’t have to wait long into the movie before tussling with that purple menace in a rematch. The latter could mean interesting things for the plot of Endgame in its second half.

On the one hand, chasing Thanos to get the stones is wise, as the clip proves they have a good idea of where to find him post-Decimation. (Or post Snap, if you're still not behind that official name's usage.) So Avengers: Endgame kicking off its second act with a failed gambit at defeating Thanos would be a good idea for the plot, as it would prove once and for all that those powered gems of the universe are necessary for victory. However, there’s also a good chance that the battle could come after the Infinity Stone heist that Black Widow is suggesting kicks off.

Thanos isn’t dumb, so he might feel he has to use one of the six stones’ specific skill sets to either evade any repercussions from his post-Infinity War antics, as well as to set up further obstacles that our heroes can’t get past without using extreme means. Not to mention, if he uses the Time Stone like Doctor Strange did in last summer’s blockbuster, he could see that he needs to act quick or be challenged again.

No matter which plot path wins out in the end, Avengers: Endgame is ready to, as Captain America put it oh so brilliantly, get that son of a bitch Thanos, and make him pay for his crimes. And with a plan involving the usage of Infinity Stones to defeat Thanos, it could be a weight off of poor Ant-Man's shoulders, as the internet had some interesting plans for his role in the undertaking. We'll have to wait and see.

Avengers: Endgame plays its final moves in the Infinity Saga on April 26th, and you’re not going to want to miss it for anything! But in the meantime, stay tuned to us here at CinemaBlend, as we’ll have more coverage of the road to the Endgame!

What Sophie Turner Loved Most About The Dark Phoenix Script

What Sophie Turner Loved Most About The Dark Phoenix Script
x-men: dark phoenix

There's certainly been a lot of chatter about Dark Phoenix and not all of it has been good. The film had its release date pushed back a few times and the X-Men franchise was slapped with a giant question mark following the Disney-Fox deal. However, all that uncertainty took a break this week when the cast and filmmakers arrived at WonderCon 2019. It sounds like everything was fairly upbeat and positive, and though the road hasn't been easy, star Sophie Turner revealed the element of the script that attracted her to the film in the first place.

CinemaBlend had boots on the ground at WonderCon this week where our own Eric Eisenberg spoke to the producers and actors of Dark Phoenix. Of the many topics covered during the conversation, Sophie Turner, who stars as Jean Grey, spoke of what she loved about the Dark Phoenix script. Not only was the role unique in that Jean Grey is technically both the protagonist and antagonist, but it's the X-Women who lead the show this time.

I think what I loved was the fact that, from a female standpoint, some of the most powerful characters in this movie are women. The lead of the movie is a female and she's not only the protagonist but also the antagonist. I loved the concept of that, so that really excited me.

Blockbusters are putting more and more female characters into the spotlight to so far tremendous results. Captain Marvel is the highest grossing movie of the year right now and other successful franchises like Stars Wars, Wonder Woman, and The Hunger Games are led by women. Dark Phoenix is continuing the trend of putting women front and center, such as Jean Grey, Mystique, Storm, and Jessica Chastain's mysterious Smith.

During the Dark Phoenix panel at WonderCon, new footage was shown that reportedly went well received by the audience. One moment that got loud cheers was when Mystique, after a tense argument with Charles Xavier, said that it's the women on the team who are often taking the biggest risks, that he should rename them the X-Women.

Obviously, more diversity in pop culture is a great thing and it sounds like Dark Phoenix will be contributing its share of strong characters when it arrives later this summer.

If you'd like to hear Sophie Turner share her thoughts on Dark Phoenix and hear what fellow cast members Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee had to say, then check out our coverage of WonderCon in the video below!

Dark Phoenix arrives in theaters on June 7, 2019. To learn more about the blockbuster until then, here is what we know so far about the latest film in the X-Men franchise.

New Avengers: Endgame Video Pays Tribute To Every Single Marvel Movie

New Avengers: Endgame Video Pays Tribute To Every Single Marvel Movie

It's almost hard to believe, but we're mere days away from the arrival of Avengers: Endgame. It's been a long year since Infinity War arrived in theaters, and left the public shocked as Josh Brolin's Thanos took victory. In the meantime, we met Captain Marvel and The Wasp, although all eyes are on what the Russo Brothers' upcoming blockbuster will contain, and how it'll wrap up Phase Three.

Avengers: Endgame has been teased to be the cumulation of the past 21 movies, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know coming to an end in the process. Endgame's contents are almost a complete mystery, with the marketing material methodically releasing footage ahead of its release. The newest trailer paid tribute to each of the preceding blockbusters, and it's enough to make some fans misty eyed. Check it out.

I'm not crying, you're crying. Avengers: Endgame has been a long time coming for Marvel fans, as cinephiles have put up a ton of money and actively followed the shared universe for a decade.

The above Avengers: Endgame trailer fails to provide any exciting new footage, but that doesn't make it any less powerful. Footage from the past decade of filmmaking are seamlessly woven together, as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's countless characters make appearances. The video's narration is provided by a variety of characters throughout the MCU, and is edited together to make up one coherent monologue. The studio pioneered serialized storytelling, and this Endgame trailer is certainly no exception.

It should be interesting to see how much Avengers: Endgame goes into the shared universe's long history. This trailer seems to indicate an emphasis on the past, but it may just be a way to advertise the movie without giving away new footage. Still, the OG Avengers all managed to survive Thanos' finger snap of death, so Endgame does appear to be going back to its roots in some ways.

Avengers: Endgame has also been long theorized to include time travel, which should allow The Russo Brothers to really delve into Marvel's tenure in theaters. While it's unclear exactly how that could be done (the Quantum Realm? The Time Stone?), early reports indicated the heroes would be returning to The Battle of New York from the first Avengers movie. We'll just have to see if those rumors come to fruition.

The surviving heroes have a ton of dirty laundry to unpack, as they grapple with half of Earth's life suddenly fading to dust. Captain America and Iron Man have yet to repair their relationship, while Hawkeye seems thoroughly changed from Thanos' snap. Nebula and Rocket are also in deep mourning, and Thor must live with knowing he didn't aim for the head. All of the MCU has lead to this, and Endgame should be an emotional and epic final ride with the titular team of heroes.

All will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters on April 26th. In the meantime, fill out our Endgame death pool, and be sure to check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Kristen Stewart Says Charlie's Angels Will Be 'Funny And Weird' Not Just 'Woke'

Kristen Stewart Says Charlie's Angels Will Be 'Funny And Weird' Not Just 'Woke'
Kristen Stewart in Charlie's Angels

Anytime you reboot a classic property, there are always questions about if it will maintain the spirit of the original source material and what made it special in the first place. For the upcoming Charlie’s Angels reboot from director Elizabeth Banks, the challenge is to do that while updating things for modern times and audiences. But lest you fear that the new Charlie’s Angels won’t be any fun, one of the film’s stars, Kristen Stewart, is assuring us that it will be. She said:

At one point I think we said it was woke and grounded, and everyone was like, ‘Wait, is it still fun?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah dude, obviously, it’s Charlie’s Angels.' ... And it’s funny and weird, too, so hopefully people have fun watching it.

Previously, Kristen Stewart mentioned that the new film would be very grounded and wouldn’t be quite as kitschy as what we are accustomed to with the franchise. She also mentioned the intentions of the film to show how women can work together. Taken as a whole, some may have read those comments as meaning that Charlie’s Angels would be a more serious film and one concerned with social issues, but not one that would be particularly fun.

Kristen Stewart must have heard some of the reaction to those comments, because when she spoke with Variety, she made it clear that the new Charlie’s Angels would still be well, Charlie’s Angels. Although it may not be the exact same as what came before (if it were, what would be the point?), it is still meant to be a fun and entertaining film that has some weirdness and makes audiences laugh.

By the sound of it, Kristen Stewart’s previous comments contained things that people latched on to and extrapolated to be indicative of the whole movie, and inaccurately so. The new Charlie’s Angels might not be as over the top campy as previous iterations, which might not work with modern audiences, but it isn’t going to be the Bourne franchise either.

From what Elizabeth Banks has said, it is the action that will be more grounded, and she has compared it to the Mission: Impossible franchise. The action-comedy will have more girl power as well because it technically takes place in the same universe as the previous films and series and sees the Townsend Agency expanded into an international operation with teams and Bosleys all over the world.

Being a part of that international crime-fighting organization might sound dangerous, but Kristen Stewart actually came out of Charlie’s Angels relatively unscathed, as she explained:

This is the first movie I’ve ever done that was pretty active and I did not injure myself. I usually ram my head against the entire movie and go, ‘Oh shit, my head broke.'

Despite playing a fairy tale princess and a character with the last name Swan during her career, grace may not be Kristen Stewart’s forte because she has been rather accident-prone in the past. The actress has suffered sprains, broken bones and cuts on films over the years. Thankfully, she managed to play a hard-partying and highly skilled spy in Charlie's Angels without injuring herself or suffering a broken head, which may not be the proper medical term.

Charlie’s Angels arrives in theaters on November 15. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to see everything headed your way this summer, and for all the latest movie news, keep it locked to CinemaBlend.

The Suicide Squad's Jai Courtney Is Psyched To Play Captain Boomerang Again

The Suicide Squad's Jai Courtney Is Psyched To Play Captain Boomerang Again
Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang

Although it is being described as more of a reboot than a sequel, James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad will be bringing back some familiar faces from David Ayer’s 2016 film. Among those faces is Jai Courtney, who played the funny and mad George “Digger” Harkness, better known as Captain Boomerang. Although his character was the most cowardly of the original group, Jai Courtney himself is psyched to hop back into the role for another go round, as he explained:

I loved playing Captain Boomerang. It's just like a rocker’s nightmare. Just looking forward to reprising that and getting the gold tooth back in and getting after it.

Captain Boomerang seems like the kind of character that would be a blast to play, and clearly Jai Courtney enjoyed his time as the Aussie bank robber. Based on what he told The Hollywood Reporter, he seems stoked that Captain Boomerang will be a part of the sequel and that he will get to have fun reprising that role, gold tooth and all.

We don’t know what writer/director James Gunn has planned, but Jai Courtney’s Boomerang does seem like the kind of odd and goofy character that Gunn does so well. And that makes him so ideally suited to this property in the first place. So it is cool that Captain Boomerang will be back and will be portrayed by an actor who relishes in the role.

Given the fact that most signs point towards James Gunn’s film doing its own thing and acting as more of a soft reboot than a true sequel, it’s difficult to know what The Suicide Squad has in store for Jai Courtney’s Captain Boomerang. At the end of Suicide Squad, having survived their mission, the team gets ten years off their sentences. Everyone except Boomerang. And while the others get special privileges, Courtney's gets put in solitary confinement.

Apparently Amanda Waller or whoever will put together the Suicide Squad in the sequel determines that Captain Boomerang isn't more trouble than he's worth and there is still some merit in keeping him around, if only for the comic relief.

Returning alongside Jai Courtney in Suicide Squad 2 is Viola Davis who plays Amanda Waller. The rest of the potential returnees are not confirmed as of yet. Despite some rumors to the contrary, it is believed that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn will return, but Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flag is not expected to.

Captain Boomerang will be mixing it up with some new faces as well. Idris Elba has been cast in The Suicide Squad and for a brief time, it seemed like he would be taking over Deadshot from Will Smith. Instead he will actually be playing a new character but we don’t know who yet, although we have some guesses. Also in talks to join Suicide Squad 2 and his first superhero film, is John Cena in an undisclosed role.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled to open on August 6, 2021. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to keep track of all the big movies coming to theaters this summer and for all the latest movie news, stay tuned to CinemaBlend.

How Much Money Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Could Make In Its Opening Weekend

How Much Money Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Could Make In Its Opening Weekend
Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton dancing in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Along with the massive blockbusters, remakes and long-awaited sequels, one of this summer’s most anticipated releases for film fans is Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The 9th film from the auteur brings together an all-star cast for a film the director describes as the closest thing he’s done to his beloved Pulp Fiction. The long-range tracking is in for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and all those ingredients look like they may add up to Tarantino’s biggest hit yet.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is forecasted to enjoy an opening weekend between $40 million and $60 million, according to Box Office Pro. For a movie released in the middle of summer that doesn’t have the same kind of CGI spectacle as the majority of the surrounding blockbusters, that is quite a solid debut. It may also wind up being the biggest opening to date for a Quentin Tarantino movie.

The biggest 3-day debut for Quentin Tarantino film, not counting for inflation, belongs to Inglorious Basterds, which opened to $38 million in August 2009 on its way to $321.4 million worldwide. Django Unchained also had a successful opening, earning $63.4 million over six days in advance of a $425.4 million worldwide total, but since it opened on Christmas Tuesday in 2012, it isn’t a 1 to 1 comparison.

Star power isn’t quite the box office driver that it once was, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has a lot of star power and that will certainly help this movie stand out in the crowded summer season and as Box Office Pro notes, be a ‘tentpole’ title in its own right. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio starred in Quentin Tarantino’s biggest openers and their names along with Oscar nominee and Harley Quinn actress Margot Robbie, and a host of other talent, will certainly help this film’s visibility come release.

Almost two months out from its release, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood also has a lot of positive buzz going for it. The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival to largely rave reviews (it currently sits at 94% on Rotten Tomatoes) and the release of the full trailer netted it solid social media buzz.

However, it should be noted that some of those reviews mentioned that the film could be divisive and prompt backlash, so we’ll have to see if that happens and what bearing it has on the box office.

It is also worth mentioning that although the R rating and long runtime (which Tarantino might still extend) are traditionally marks against a film’s box office prospects, Tarantino has a coterie audience that expects an R rating from the filmmaker and as Avengers: Endgame showed, when the interest is there, runtime isn’t always a detractor.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will also stand out as one of the few options for adult-oriented fare during the summer months. The likening of the film to Pulp Fiction may also prove to be advantageous as that film is still Quentin Tarantino’s biggest movie domestically when adjusted for inflation.

And although the film won’t have much competition opening weekend, it will be interesting to see if its $40-$60 million debut is enough for first place. That’s because it comes out the week after Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King, which could top $200 million opening weekend. Tarantino’s film also comes out one week before Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

Nevertheless, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will have carved out a nice opening for itself with $40-$60 million if the tracking is right.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opens on July 26. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to keep track of all the movies to get you out of the hot summer sun this season.

The First 17 Minutes Of Toy Story 4 Finally Reveal Why Bo Peep Disappeared

The First 17 Minutes Of Toy Story 4 Finally Reveal Why Bo Peep Disappeared
Bo Peep and Woody say goodbye in toy Story 4

Spoilers, obviously from CinemaCon 2019 where Disney played the first 17 minutes of the upcoming animated sequel.

I saw the first 17 minutes of Toy Story 4 and at first it felt like time had stopped, looped and rewound to a simpler time when Woody and Buzz were Andy’s toys. In fact, the movie kicks off with a flashback that hits on a lot of nostalgic notes, but also finally reveals a major secret: What happened to Bo Peep and why wasn’t she in Toy Story 3?

Early on, we flashback to Andy’s childhood home, where his sister Molly is getting rid of some of her early toys, including Bo Peep. Woody is making a daring rescue of another toy when Bo Peep is boxed up with her sheep, but he makes it to the car in time to say goodbye. He tries to save her from the box, but she gently reminds him that she’s been made to be played with. Perhaps it’s her time to go.

The clincher, however, is that she asks Woody to go with her, reminding him that toys “get lost” or “left outside.” But he can’t go. He still has Andy to think about. They part ways.

It’s not exactly a tearjerker moment, but wow does the opener hit all the feels.

But we’re off to the races afterward. The movie then cuts to the present day featuring the characters who have all mingled together since Toy Story 3. It’s Bonnie’s orientation day at Kindergarten, but she’s really sad to leave her favorite toys behind. (She’s less sad about Woody, who recently seems to have fallen out of favor.) The rest is the start of an adventure, an adventure that also features new character Forky’s origin story and more.

In the trailer, we’ve seen Woody and Forky get separated from the group thanks to Forky’s penchant for wanting to be trash and not a toy. Woody ends up reuniting with Bo Peep in the first trailer at a shop near a park of some sort, complete with a Ferris Wheel and lots to do! Bo Peep, for her part, has moved on from wanting to please children and Woody seems enamored by this new place and way of thinking.

From Pixar's point of view, we don’t know exactly why Bo Peep was written out of Toy Story 3 or why she only popped up briefly in Toy Story 2. She just wasn’t really a major component in the Toy Story narrative for the last couple of movies, but this first look capably presents a good reason behind why Bo Peep disappeared and the trailer reintroduces her as a stronger and wiser character.

But now she’s back in a big way in Toy Story 4.

Of course, while it’s nice to know why Bo Peep and Woody were separated and when exactly in the timeline it happened, the really notable moment may simply be seeing Woody back in Andy’s world.

I’m not always fond of flashbacks, but in this case, it seems to have worked. Seeing Andy again – even though I knew it was going to happen – capably tied the movie to its roots. Andy’s been a part of every movie and he’s woven into Woody’s fibers of being, even if Woody now has Bonnie written on his shoe.

Ultimately, we know Toy Story 4 is going to get emotional. The other movies in the franchise leave me blubbering every. single. time. Plus Tom Hanks has already said he had an emotional last day filming this sucker, and even didn’t want to face the creative team as he finished up his recording.

The way you record Toy Story, you're in a room with the team that has created it. When I went in for my last day of recording, I wanted to have my back to them, because usually you're facing him so you can look right up and you can talk about it. But I didn't want to see them and I wanted to pretend they couldn't see me. When I realized what they were going for, I realized, 'Oh, this is a moment in history.'

Toy Story 4 opens on June 21, 2019. Stay tuned for more coverage from CinemaCon 2019 and be sure to keep an eye on what we know about the upcoming animated Pixar flick.
